About the project
This website is part of my research project for my Global Equity Fellowship with NYU. Here I am hoping to present my findings on anti-Asian racism during Italy's coronavirus outbreak and open a space for Asians impacted by this discrimination in Italy to share their stories. The purpose of the project is to document the incidents and atmosphere of hate triggered by this pandemic and analyze the roots of this discrimination.
About me
My name is Tiana Urey and I am the 2020 Global Equity Fellow for NYU Florence. I am currently a rising sophomore and intend to double major in English literature and public policy. This issue is incredibly important to me since I was in Italy when the virus broke out and experienced the seemingly sudden shift in treatment towards Asians. I am Vietnamese-American, and I hope this project can be my small part in showing solidarity with my community.
